Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) easily fended off a primary challenge in Tennessee’s 5th congressional district primary.
Ogles was declared victorious over challenger Courtney Johnston, a member of the Nashville Metropolitan Council.
With 65 percent of the vote counted, AP declared Ogles victorious over Johnston at around 9:20 p.m. ET. At the time of publication, Ogles led Johnston by over nine points.
The 5th congressional district is one of three Nashville area districts redrawn favorably to Republicans in the wake of the 2020 census. The redrawn districts are expected to prevent Democrats from reclaiming any of the Nashville area seats despite that area’s left-leaning bent….
