The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards were held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, hosted by Megan Thee Stallion from UBS Arena in New York.

Taylor Swift, 34, took home the moon person for artist of the year, beating out Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny, Eminem and SZA.  Swift also won the award for Video of the Yearfor “Fortnight,” her collaboration with Post Malone, as well as the awards for Best Pop, Best Collaboration, Song of Summer, Best Direction and Best Editing.

Chappell Roan was named Best New Artist, with Best Latin awarded to Anitta for “Mil Veces.” Best R&B went to SZA for “Snooze,” and Video for Good went to “What Was I Made For? (From The Motion Picture Barbie)” by Billie Eilish, while Eminem won Best Hip-Hop for “Houdini.”

Katy Perry, introduced by partner Orlando Bloom, was honored with the Video Vanguard Award, and performed a medley of her songs — including “Perfect Storm,” “E.T.,” “California Girls,” “Teenage Dream,” “I Kissed a Girl,” “Firework” and “Lifetimes.” She was also joined by Doechii on stage to sing their new collaboration, “I’m His, He’s Mine.”
