The New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Composite will close on Jan. 9, 2025, in observance of a day of mourning for former President Jimmy Carter, who died on Dec. 29 at age 100. On Dec. 30, Intercontinental Exchange Inc., the Atlanta-based financial services company that owns the NYSE, and Nasdaq Inc., the New York-based financial services company that owns the eponymous exchange, announced they will close all of their equity and options markets on the 9th. The NYSE Group will close the New York Stock Exchange, NYSE American Equities, NYSE American Options, NYSE Arca Equities, NYSE Arca Options, NYSE Chicago, and NYSE National exchanges on Jan. 9, 2024.
